Public call announced for the selection of the Director of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade

The Management Board of the Natural History Museum announces a public call for the selection of the Director of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade

Pursuant to Article 35 of the Law on Culture, Article 37 of the Statute, and the Decision of the Management Board no. 315 of 2 April 2026, the Management Board of the Natural History Museum:

Announces a public call

for the selection of the Director of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade

Conditions for the selection of the Director

I Interested persons who meet the following conditions may apply for the position of Director of the Museum:

  • higher education, namely: undergraduate academic studies of at least 240 ECTS credits, or specialist vocational studies, in accordance with the regulation governing higher education from 10 September 2005 onwards; or undergraduate studies of at least four years' duration in accordance with the regulation governing higher education up to 10 September 2005;

2) at least five years of work experience in culture;

3) that no investigation is being conducted against the candidate and that no indictment has been raised for criminal offences prosecuted ex officio, and that the candidate has not been convicted of criminal offences making them unworthy to hold the office of Director;

4) knowledge of one foreign language;

5) citizenship of the Republic of Serbia;

6) computer literacy;

II Together with the application, interested persons must submit the following evidence:

  • a proposed work and development programme for the Museum for a four-year period;
  • a diploma or certificate of acquired professional qualifications;
  • evidence of work experience (contracts, certificates, etc.) from which it can be determined in which positions and with which professional qualifications the work experience was acquired;
  • a CV containing information on previous work and achieved results;
  • a certificate, no older than six months, that no investigation is being conducted against the candidate and that no indictment has been raised against them for criminal offences prosecuted ex officio;
  • a certificate that the candidate has not been finally convicted (no older than six months);
  • a certificate of citizenship of the Republic of Serbia (no older than six months);
  • an extract from the registry of births;
  • a photocopy of the identity card;
  • evidence of knowledge of a foreign language (a university diploma, a certificate of a passed examination during studies, or a certificate – confirmation from a relevant accredited institution);
  • evidence of knowledge of basic personal computer programmes (a certificate – confirmation from a relevant institution) or a check of computer skills by a person assigned to information technology duties.

Diplomas, certificates, confirmations and other evidence are submitted in the original or as copies certified by the competent authority.

III When compiling the list of candidates, the Management Board will also evaluate the following facts:

  • knowledge of the operation of cultural institutions;
  • managerial experience in cultural sector positions;
  • the quality of the proposed work and development programme of the Museum, from the application documentation submitted.

Application for the public call and evidence to be enclosed with the application

IV The application for the public call should contain: the name and surname of the applicant, the date and place of birth, the address of residence, the necessary contact details (telephone, e-mail), information on education, information on the type and length of work experience, with a brief description of the positions in which the candidate worked up to submitting the application, and a list of the documents enclosed.

Selection procedure:

The selection procedure will be carried out through a review of the data from the application, a review of the documents and evidence submitted with the application, and an oral interview with the applicants who have been determined to meet the conditions of the call (hereinafter: candidates). Minutes will be taken of the same. The date of the oral interview with the candidates will be determined subsequently, and the candidates will be notified in good time (by e-mail, telephone, telegram, etc.).

Within 30 days of the conclusion of the call, the minutes of the conducted interviews and a reasoned proposal of the list of candidates, in alphabetical order, with an opinion on the professional and organisational abilities of each candidate and the minutes of the conducted interview, are submitted to the Ministry.

The Ministry proposes a Director candidate to the Government from the list of candidates, or notifies the Government of the reasons for not accepting the list.

Application documents are submitted in the original or in a photocopy certified by the competent authority.

A complete application is any application that contains the evidence and information from the application documentation.

A timely application is any application submitted within 15 days of the publication of the public call.

Applicants and all persons interested in participating in the public call for the selection of the Director of the Museum may inspect the application documentation in the building of the Natural History Museum, Njegoševa 51, Belgrade, between 11:00 and 13:00, every working day, from the day of publication of the call until the deadline for application, in the presence of an authorised employee of the Museum.

The application documentation that may be inspected by every applicant and interested person consists of: the Statute, the Rulebook on the Organisation and Systematisation of Jobs of the Museum, and the model employment contract for the Director.

"Untimely and inadmissible applications shall be rejected by the Management Board by a decision against which an appeal may be lodged with the Ministry responsible for culture (hereinafter: the Ministry), in accordance with the law governing administrative procedure.

The appeal does not stay the execution of the decision."

Application deadline

V The deadline for applications to the call is 15 days from the day the call is published.

VI The application with evidence of meeting the conditions is submitted in a sealed envelope to the Management Board of the Natural History Museum, marked: "For the public call for the selection of the Director of the Natural History Museum", by post to the address: Natural History Museum, Njegoševa 51, 11000 Belgrade, or in person at the Department of General and Legal Affairs of the Museum at the same address, working days from 9:00 to 15:00.
