The Natural History Museum in Belgrade announces a call for professional internships
The Natural History Museum in Belgrade announces a call for professional internships and offers students the opportunity to gain experience in field research methods in botany, in plant preparation and in the maintenance of plant collections.
The two-day internship programme (one weekend day and Monday), entitled "In the Footsteps of Josif Pančić", includes an introduction to the basic areas of a curator's work in the museum and the acquisition of practical knowledge in identifying, collecting and identifying plants. Special emphasis is placed on field work as the basic method of collecting, documenting and systematically expanding herbarium collections, as well as on its importance in interpreting the history of botanical research in Serbia and in preparing museum exhibitions. As part of this internship, students will also walk some of the paths that Josif Pančić took with his pupils after his arrival in Serbia in 1846, when the flora and fauna of Belgrade and the entire Principality of Serbia were not sufficiently researched.

The maximum number of students per group is 15. Depending on the number of applications received, the Natural History Museum will introduce additional dates.

- Day 1: Field work – methods of field research in botany at a selected site,
- Day 2: Identifying plants at the Museum, herbarisation, labelling, analysis and processing of field data, entering data into databases, preparing labels for printing and so on.
